The HR Director, International will be responsible for developing and executing the global HR strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives across diverse regions. The Director will lead and manage all HR activities, including employee relations, compensation and benefits, talent management, training and development, talent acquisition and more. The HR Director will work closely with commercial and R&D leadership to operationally drive business decisions. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with diverse teams from all corners of the world, has a passion for leading teams, and is a stellar collaborator.

Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement global HR strategies that support business goals and promote company culture.
- Lead and inspire the HR team across multiple regions- UK, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Philippines, Greece, and remote employees- ensuring consistency in practices while considering local needs and laws.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives and change management.
- Serve as an HR thought leader for senior management, providing advice and insights on talent management, organizational design, and workforce effectiveness.
Talent Management:
- Oversee Talent Acquisition activities in region, partnering with the Talent Acquisition Lead to ensure global consistency, an engaging process, and ensuring the company attracts top tech talent globally.
- Support the Talent Acquisition team in understanding employment law, practices, and needs for a smooth hiring process,
- Foster a culture of excellence, implementing robust performance management and talent development processes.
Employee Engagement and Culture:
- Drive employee engagement initiatives and ensure the company fosters a positive, inclusive, and innovative workplace culture.
- Develop and implement employee well-being programs to enhance our core values.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Ensure the company provides fair, transparent, and attractive compensation packages across regions
- Manage HR-related compliance in all countries to ensure adherence to labor laws and regulations, as well as Rakuten Group requirements.
HR Operations and Compliance:
- Oversee HR operations globally, ensuring systems, policies, and procedures are efficient and comply with local regulations.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues across various regions.
- Ensure the smooth execution of HR technology systems and data management across all markets.
- Support company’s mobility needs- visa processing, and cross-border assignments, to support business expansion and talent development.
- Partner with HR operations at the wider Rakuten group to launch system modules, projects, and initiatives.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in HR leadership roles, including at least 4 years in a global HR management position within the tech industry.
- Experience within start-up environment, and track record of scaling and growing teams.
- Proven experience managing HR operations across multiple countries and regions.
- Expertise in employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
Skills:
- Strong business acumen with the ability to link HR strategies to business goals.
- Experience with HR technology platforms (e.g., Workday) and data analytics to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and employees globally.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
