Places to Visit in Paris
If you haven’t yet been to Paris, you’re in for a treat. The Metropolitan is known for its incredible architecture, renowned museums, and its fine dining restaurants, bistros, markets and boulangeries.
For a Must See View Visit the Eiffel Tower
Although initially hated by many Parisians, the Eiffel Tower has since become one of France’s most famous icons, as well as the focal point of every New Year’s Eve and Bastille Day celebration in the city. The tower was completed in 1889 and is 1,063 feet tall and has three levels for visitors, with restaurants on the first and second levels. You can purchase tickets to go up by foot or with an elevator to the two first levels.
For More Than Just the Mona Lisa, Visit the Louvre Museum
There’s so much more to see at the world’s largest art museum, the Louvre, other than Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. So even if you’ve visited a few times in the past chances are you’ll never be able to see everything this incredible art museum has to offer. You can always skip the line by purchasing tickets in advance, however, if you don’t manage to, waiting in line in an actual palace (the Louvre Palace), won’t be a dull experience.
For the Best Impressionist Artwork Visit the Musee d’Orsay
While the Louvre is the place to be, whether or not you’re into art, the Musée d’Orsay is a must-see for any art lover, particularly fans of impressionism and post-impressionist artists. Located in the former Gare d’Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station built in the late 19th century. The museum houses paintings, sculptures, furniture and photography with some of the most recognized paintings by artists including Monet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Manet, and others.
For the Best Gargoyles Visit the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral
Le Marais
Get a feel of old Paris by visiting Le Marais, the city’s historic district. Located on a land-filled swamp, the neighborhood is now a center of high culture, hosting beautiful buildings across parts of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. You should be sure to catch a bite in one of the local restaurants or stay in one of the district’s hotels.
For a Stunning View of the City Visit the Basilica du Sacre-Coeur
Not nearly as old as the Notre Dame, the Montmartre landmark, Sacré-Cœur (the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris) is a 19th century Roman Catholic church and a minor basilica. Showcasing the city in all of its glory, the basilica is located at the highest point of the city, which makes for excellent views and photographs.
We’re sure you’re tired from touring the city, but we know you still have the energy to dance till you drop at the Shakira El Dorado World Tour concert! Shakira’s Paris performances will take place on June 13th and 14th at the France AccorHotels Arena so choose your preferred date.
